“HOLDING, MOVING, TOUCHING AND FEELING THINGS”, a project focused on the photographic representation of hands. Endowed with a free and vigorous spirit, the hands are almost like living beings, who sometimes seem to think, have a will of their own, and even without a voice, speak. They are what connect us to the outside world, in the sense that they are what we use most to feel and touch everything that surrounds us. Sensations such as cold, hot, soft, rough, are constantly passing through our hands throughout the day, without paying attention to them.
I’ve always liked hands, their articulation, the positions they are in when we’re not trying to be more than just natural. The most common way to see someone represented is through their portrait, however, in this project, I chose to portray the people around me, through their hands. People holding, moving, touching and feeling in their daily lives. Freeze these normal moments and acts, which we all do almost without thinking.
